more » 21 May 2013, Mandiganal Village, Karnartaka, India: Dr Bellada of the Karnataka Mobile Health Clinic project conducts a check up on Savita Mallakarjun Bendigeri, (21) who is due to give birth on June 16, at Mandiganal Village outside of Hubli. Assisting him is nurse Anita Poojara (26) and accredited social health activist (ASHA) Renuka Baramappa who refers patients to the project. The World Bank is financing the Karnataka Health Systems Project that is bringing mobile health clinics to remote villages in Karnataka and covers the cost of an ambulance, a doctor, pharmacist, two nurses, a cleaner and a driver. Villagers have the opportunity to see a doctor once a week for basic services and will be referred to Primary Health Care centres for larger issues Picture by Graham Crouch/World Bank
