A dust storm envelopes trucks on the roadside on the outskirts of Kabul. Many local people are hoping the winds of change will be blowing through the war torn and poverty stricken country. With only the second ever Presidential elections happening in Afghanistan on Thursday August 20 life in the capital of Kabul has taken on a high level of tension. Insurgent attacks on an almost daily basis including rocket attacks and suicide bombers, have everyone on a knife edge. Security measures have become drastic and it especially unsafe to be in large crowds - where the attackers often aim. Despite the massive security presence life still goes on in the capital and the population lives in hope that the next government will provide security, peace and a way forward from the harsh poverty endured by most of the population of this war torn country.
