13 August 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia: Water seller Pak Sampras delivers water in plastic barrels to homes in Muara Baru, North Jakarta. There is a severe lack of water facilities that the local poor population has access to. Water is hauled in each day by motorcycle and trucks and by hand to allow residents of the kampungs (village) to buy it for washing and to do laundry. Separate water is needed for drinking. The Jakarta Governor is proposing a program to send in trucks of water for the locals to get for free to ease their plight. They are living in villages below the seawater line on the coast of Jakarta that is sinking faster than anywhere else in the world. They have the position of being surrounded by water yet not having access to clean supplies.
