13 August 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia: Nani Sulastri sits on bench covering a water supply pipe that was turned off by the Government years ago outside her home in Muara Baru, North Jakarta. She has never taken a shower or a bath in her life due to the lack of water facilities that the local poor population has access to. Water is hauled in each day by motorcycle and trucks and by hand to allow residents of the kampungs to buy it for washing and to do laundry. Separate water is needed for drinking. The Jakarta Governor is proposing a program to send in trucks of water for the locals to get for free. They are living in villages below the seawater line on the coast of Jakarta that is sinking faster than anywhere else in the world so they have the position of being surrounded by water yet not having access to clean supplies.
