13 August 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia: Facory worker Dodi Riyanto with his daughter Ulfi walks along the flooded road in front of his home below the sea wall at Muara Baru, North Jakarta. The protective seawall barrier keeping the ocean at bay was built by Governor (now President) Joko Widodo. It was constructed to prevent further encroachment by the ocean into the settlements in North Jakarta which is sinking at a rate faster than anywhere else in the world. Residents speak of the flooding that would drive them to higher ground washing away all in its path. Residents now say the land is dry and usable but it is an ongoing crisis for Indonesia.
