13 August 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia: Small shop owner Mohammad Saleh (53) stands outside his shop in Muara Baru,North Jakarta. He claims where his head now touches the second floor of the building it was 4 metres higher when he first built it thirty years ago. Now the land has sunk so much he has to duck to enter the ground floor. He continually puts more concrete on the path running outside his shop to keep it level. The Government is planning to move the capital off the island of Java to alleviate some of the strain that is causing the city to sink so quickly such as the draining of the groundwater table.
