13 August 2019, Jakarta, Indonesia: Local resident Iwan stands on the protective seawall barrier keeping the ocean at bay at Muara Baru, North Jakarta. Built by Governor (now President) Joko Widodo it was constructed to prevent further encroachment by the ocean into the settlements in North Jakarta which is sinking at a rate faster than anywhere else in the world. Residents speak of the flooding that would drive them to higher ground washing away all in its path. Residents now say the land is dry and usable but it is an ongoing crisis for Indonesia.
